Armas, isinuko sa Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY – Ibinandera kahapon ng militar ang pagsuko ng mga armas ng ibat-ibang tao sa magulong lalawigan ng Maguindanao na kung saan ay patuloy ang kampanya kontra ilegal na mga baril.

Kabilang sa mga ibinalik sa militar ang isang sniper rifle, mga Garand at Armalite rifles mula sa magkakahiwalay na lugar doon. “The firearms and war materiel are now under the custody of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion for safekeeping. We will make sure that these firearms are properly documented,” ani Major General Arnel Dela Vega, commander ng Joint Task Force Central Mindanao.

Umabot sa 9 ang mga armas na isinuko sa militar, ayon kay Dela Vega at sinabi naman ng Western Mindanao Command na mula Enero ay nabawi na ng militar ang halos 100 mga armas – 52 sa Sulu; 39 sa Lanao del Sur.

Bahagi umano ito ng kampanya ng militar sa Mindanao upang mabawi ang mga ilegal na armas sa ibat-ibang grupo. Ngunit tikom naman ang bibig ng mga opisyal ng militar sa isyu kung bakit hindi nila makumpiska o mahimok ang Moro Islamic Liberation Front at Moro National Liberation Front na isuko ang kanilang mga armas.
