
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 6, 2013) – An army soldier and a girl were killed in separate road accidents Thursday in Zamboanga Sibugay province in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said the soldier, Pfc. Nurhosien Estino, 34, was driving his motorcycle when a pick-up truck hit him from the rear after he made a sudden left turn without signaling on a highway in R.T. Lim town.
The truck driver, Benedicto Romero, 49, surrendered to the authorities after the accident. Estino, police said, was a member of the 35th Infantry Battalion and a native of Sulu province.
Police said the girl, Shernalyn Jordan, 2, was hit by a motorcycle driven bv Fharid Abubakar, 26, in the town of Naga.
The girl was rushed to hospital, but she died along the way. Abubakar, who also surrendered to the police after the accident, said the girl suddenly crossed the road. (Mindanao Examiner)
