CEBU – A 61-year old Austrian man was murdered in the Philippines and authorities have launched a manhunt for his killers, including a Filipino woman who was with him before the attack, police said Friday.
Police said Franz Kremser was driving a motorcycle with the woman in Balugo village in Negros Oriental’s Valencia town when two gunmen attacked him on Wednesday. Kremser died on the spot from the shooting.
Kremser’s companion has disappeared and police were searching for her to shed light on the murder.
It was unclear whether the woman was taken by the gunmen or part of them as police continue to investigate the killing of the foreigner. Police said it could not provide details on Kremser’s background while investigation is going on.
The motive of the killing is still unknown. There was no immediate statement from the Austrian embassy. (Cebu Examiner)
