
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 7, 2013) – Patrolling security killed one gunman in a clash with bandits in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay, officials said Saturday.
Officials said army soldiers and policemen were patrolling the village of Silal in Payao town when they ran into a group of bandits and a firefight ensued.
The fighting lasted about five minutes. There were no reports casualties on the police and military, according to Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman.
He said ground commanders identified the slain bandit as Allan Dacula and that security forces had recovered his .45-caliber pistol and ammunition. (Mindanao Examiner)
