ZAMBOANGA CITY – A lone gunmen shot and wounded barber in an attack in Isabela City in the troubled province of Basilan in the Muslim autonomous region in southern Philippines, police said Sunday.
Police said the victim, Nadzmi Hassan, 38, was transferred to Zamboanga City by a military vessel for emergency treatment.
Hassan was buying fried banana strips when the gunman arrived and shot him in broad daylight near his barber shop.
The motive of the attack is still unknown, but police said there is an ongoing investigation to determine who was behind the shooting.
Gun attacks in Isabela City and other parts of Basilan are not uncommon where hired killers are actively operating. (Mindanao Examiner)
