MAYOR BENG CLIMACO has called on members of the local Council to be united and work hard for the benefit of the people and the future of Zamboanga City not only the next 3 years, but beyond.
“We need to unite for the City and our people to progress. The people of Zamboanga chose us, the sweeping victory of two district (legislative) representatives, the Mayor and Vice Mayor and the members of the Sanggunian Panglungsod is a remarkable manifestation, este el llamada de Dios para canaton todo eligido y maga representantes sectoral de Consejo sirvi con todos na Ciudad de Zamboanga,” Climaco said.
Climaco also asked lawmakers to continue supporting various programs and efforts of the local government and sustain the progress and development of Zamboanga as elected officials take their sworn duties to serve the public and their constituents.
“Ta pidi yo de ustedes ayuda na mi tercer termino para hace mas resiliente con el diatun Ciudad de Zamboanga,” she said, adding, the tasks and challenges ahead are tough and plenty, yet when “we learn to work together beyond party lines and political colors, beyond Team Climaco and Team Colorao, beyond personal ambitions and interests, then nothing will be impossible to make Zamboanga City progress.”
Just recently, Climaco attended the maiden session of council members, but she was emotional as she thanked all those who supported her and Team Climaco for overwhelmingly winning the elections.
“The time has come for us to value our mandate por causa de Dios solamente, este el deseo de maga votante, este el propio tiempo de Dios necesita kita uni y trabaja para el Ciudad de Zamboanga,” she said.
Climaco, a known religious woman, told council members that faith in God led them to victory having chosen “hope over fear.”
“We gathered because we have chosen hope over fear. Our faith in God has led us to this moment, a reminder that we cannot allow ourselves to be dictated upon, no more blanket authority but a real democracy in the Legislature,” she said.
Majority of the councilmen and even those in the slate of defeated mayoralty candidate and former lawmaker Celso Lobregat are also supporting Climaco’s programs. (Zamboanga Post)
