Better immigration services at Mactan airport

Chief Editor March 5, 2015
ME and CE

CEBU CITY – The Bureau of Immigration said it has installed new equipment and facilities in an effort to further provide better services at immigration counters for all international-bound passengers at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

“These upgrades have been lobbied for quite some time and we are very happy with the new development,” said BI commissioner Siegfred Mison.

Mison said just recently they installed 29 new passport readers and 20 computers at the immigration counters.

“The new counters and equipment will ease passenger congestion at the arrival area and cut waiting time by more than half,” he said.

Last year, the BI put up the Anti-Fraud Laboratory and processed 13,940 flights and 1,763,470 passengers, according to Mison.

“These numbers are expected to receive on a yearly basis and we are confident that the BI is fully-equipped and ready to receive the demands of the international passengers,” Mison said. (Hazel F. Gloria)
