BIFF binakbakan na naman ng militar sa Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO – Isang assault na naman ang inilunsad ngayon Sabado ng militar kontra Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters sa Maguindanao sa magulong Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao matapos ng matinding labanan na ikinasugat ng mahigit sa 2 dosenang sundalo sa naturang lalawigan.

Kabilang sa mga sugatan ay isang pilot ng Huey helicopter na niratrat ng BIFF habang nagbibigay ng air support sa mga tropang nakikipaglaban sa mga rebelde. Walang detalyeng ibinigay ang 6th Infantry Division sa kasalukuyang assault, ngunit nakatuon ang opensiba sa apat na lugar sa Maguindanao, kabilang na sa bayan ng Datu Piang na kung saan ay dalawang kampo ng BIFF ang nabawi nitong Marso 6 sa Bartangay Liab.

Apat na rebelde rin ang nadakip doon, ayon kay Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, ang tagapagsalita ng 6th Infantry Division. Kinilala naman nito ang mga nadakip na sina Aladin Panaydan, 22; Daud Balogat, 23; Ebrahim Oraw, 40; at Abdul Madalidaw, 33. Nabawi rin umano ang mga sumusunod mula sa mga rebelde – isang .45-caliber pistol, isang Thompson sub-machine gun at sari-saring gamit sa paggagawa ng mga bomba, kabilang na ang apat na cell phones.

“The capture of the BIFF camps only proves that it is being used in the manufacture of improvised explosives,” ani Petinglay na sinabi umano ni General Edmundo Pangilinan, commander ng 6th Infantry Division.

Nakikibaka ang BIFF para sa kalayaan ng mga Muslim matapos itong kumalas sa mas malaking Moro Islamic Liberation Front na lumagda ng peace deal sa pamahalaang Aquino. (Mark Navales)
