JOINT ANTI-DRUG operatives arrested an alleged “big time” drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in a housing village here on Thursday night.
Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-12, identified the suspect as Rodrigo Dorado Dua III, who was considered as among the top drug personalities in the city.
He said the suspect was nabbed around 6:30 p.m. at a portion of Lacap Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro by elements of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-12 and the San Isidro police station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Region 12.
During the entrapment, Rasco said the suspect “positively sold” a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500 to a police officer who posed as a buyer.
He said Dua also yielded in a subsequent search a small and 14 medium plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
The operating team seized a motorcycle owned by the suspect, he said.
Rasco said that Dua was included on the target lists of the city police, RPDEU-12 and PDEA-12.
Prior to the operation, he said the RPDEU-12 subjected the suspect to a series of surveillance and test-buys.
“He is a big time drug dealer as shown by the recovered evidences,” he said in a report issued by PRO-12.
The police official said they submitted the recovered pieces of evidence to the Regional Crime Laboratory-12 for qualitative examination.
He said they have yet to establish the value of the seized shabu, which will be determined by PDEA-12.
Rasco added that the suspect will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 or selling and possession of dangerous drugs, under Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.(By Allen Estabillo)
