ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 25, 2013) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue in Western Mindanao expressed optimism that it would be able to collect more revenues this year as it launched its Tax Campaign 2013.
BIR regional chief lawyer Albert Alocilja said the campaign aims to educate the public about the agency’s efforts in collecting revenues from business establishments and workers to add to the government’s coffers.
Alocilja also reminded private workers and employees and those self-employed and companies to pay their income tax returns, whose deadline is on April 15.
Last year, the BIR regional office collected almost P4 billion in revenues and overshot its target.
Alocilja said their tax campaign slogan for this year is “I Love The Philippines, I Pay Taxes Correctly.” (Mindanao Examiner. Gina Fernando)
