ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 19, 2012) – The Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office 9 said it expects to meet and probably overshoots its July target collection as the agency continues to remind business owners and tax payers to comply with their obligations to the government.
Revenue District Officer Merlyn DV Vicente said of the targeted collection of P144,393 million , they have so far collected over P118 million since early this week.
For January, Vicente said they collected a total of P141,670,168; and on February, P117,750,036; March P150,996,736; April P196,318,397, May P159,898,464 and P137,299,278 in June.
Vicente said they failed to achieve their quota for the month of April. Most of the revenues came mostly from income tax returns, transfer taxes, government projects, and several business taxes.
She said those who cannot comply in the BIR deadline for payment of taxes will have to pay additional 25% surcharge and 20% annual interest. (Marvin Saradat)
