Body parts found in Davao City garbage dump

Editor December 15, 2011

DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 15, 2011) – Philippine police said body parts of a woman have been found at a garbage dump in Davao City, notorious for extrajudicial killings blamed largely to the shadowy group called Davao Death Squad.

Police said the body of the woman is still missing, but her severed head and limbs were found by garbage collectors on Wednesday.

The motive of the gruesome murder is still unknown, but other reports said the victim was an ethnic tribeswoman. He head was discovered in a cardboard box and the limbs in a plastic sack.

Police said it is investigating the killing. The death squad has been blamed for hundreds of killings of many people, including minors suspected of involvement in robberies and other crimes in Davao in recent years.

There were allegations that the extrajudicial killings may have been carried out by policemen or prisoners who were secretly sent out by authorities at night to hunt for their victims. (Mindanao Examiner)
