COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 30, 2012) – A bombed explosion on Saturday ripped through a passenger bus in the southern Philippines and wounding several people, authorities said.
It said the bomb, planted at the rear of Husky bus, exploded in the town of Isulan in Sultan Kudarat province. A second bus following Husky bus also suffered damage.
The military did not say what type of explosive was used in the attack.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, but similar attacks on provincial buses in the past had been largely blamed to extortionists and criminal gangs.
Last month, government troops disarmed four mortar bombs in the compartment of an abandoned motorcycle also in the town of Isulan. The explosives were discovered after residents noticed a cell phone and a battery hanging from the motorcycle parked in downtown Isulan. (Mindanao Examiner)
