BULACAN – Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and aspiring senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go joined his fellow Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) political party members during their campaign in the province of Bulacan.
The former SAP was accompanied by fellow HNP senatoriables and party leader Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio at the Meycauayan College Gymnasium in Meycauayan City, where the HNP rally was held.
Go started things on a light note alongside Bulacan native and good friend Philip Salvador. Afterwards, Go went on to announce that he intended to continue the changes that were initiated by the Duterte presidency.
Go spoke about how President Duterte dealt with corrupt officials in the government, bringing home the point that the Duterte administration does not tolerate corruption within its ranks. Totoo ‘yun,” Go told Bulacan audiences, a warning to government officials engaging in corrupt activities.
Go then discussed what he considered his most important task, should he be given a chance to serve as senator: to improve the delivery of services in the Philippines.
Go also focused on his priority agenda which is to improve the delivery of healthcare services especially to poor Filipinos. “Improve the health services throughout the country. Go narrated, indicating the need for the government to provide more beds to public hospitals.
Go followed it by stating that how the Malasakit Center program is vital in improving healthcare services throughout the country. Nasa 24 na po ito (sa buong bansa) at mayroon po kayo dito sa Bulacan,” he said, telling the audience about the Malasakit Center at the Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City.
The Malasakit Center, a program started by former SAP Go and being implemented by the Duterte admistration, aids indigent patients in acquiring quick medical and financial help from government departments such as Philhealth, PCSO, DOH, DSWD, and other relevant agencies.
Go, in vying for a position in the Senate, hoped to legislate the opening of more Malasakit Centers in parts of the Philippines to provide assistance to patients in need of medical attention. He also hoped that the Malasakit Center program would continue beyond President Duterte’s time in office.
Go, a candidate for Senator in the May 2019 elections, also told audience members other topics in his legislative agenda that he would like to deal with in the future like agriculture, education, a senior citizen’s commission, housing with accessible acquisition terms, sports development, and a Department of OFWs.
Go closed his speech in Bulacan by reaffirming his commitment to deliver quality service, a hallmark of the Duterte administration. (Jun Ledesma)
