
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 12, 2014) – A British missionary was injured after their minibus crashed near a ditch in the southern Philippines, police said Monday.
Police said the 25-year old Stacy Louise Baker, from United Kingdom, was rushed to the hospital in the town of Liloy in Zamboanga del Norte province.
Baker, a member of the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ, was with a group of Filipinos bound for Ipil town in the neighboring province of Zamboanga Sibugay when the accident occurred over the weekend.
Police said the driver of the bus Ronnie Patria, 40, lost control of the wheel following to mechanical malfunction.
“All the passengers, to include the driver, were unharmed, but one passenger identified as Stacey Louise Baker, 25 years old, female, single, UK citizen, Pentecostal Missionary and a resident of United Kingdom was rushed to Liloy Integrated Hospital for medical assistance due to trauma,” police said.
It was not immediately known how many passengers or whether Baker was the only foreigner in the bus. A police officer Abner Silaga who has been assigned to investigate the accident did not answer phone calls by journalists. (Mindanao Examiner)
