ZAMBOANGA CITY – Burglars took off with a still undetermined amount of money after breaking inside an insurance and lending companies in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Friday.

Police said the burglars passed through the ceiling after destroying the roof of the one-storey building housing the Perla Insurance Corp. and D Last Frontier Corp. in Governor Alvarez Street late Thursday.

It said several laptop computers were also carted away by the burglars, but they failed to open the vault of the lending firm. Security cameras of the two companies were also defective.

Chief Inspector Edilberto Alvarez said they were still investigating the break in. (Christina Diabordo)
