COTABATO CITY – A provincial bus crashed Saturday on a tree in the southern Philippines and killing three of its passengers in North Cotabato’s Aleosan town, reports said.
At least two dozen other passengers were injured in the accident after the Weena bus slammed on a huge mango tree in Pagangan village. The bus was heading to Cotabato City from Davao City when the accident occurred.
The bus driver apparently lost control of the bus for a still unknown reason. The injured passengers were rushed to hospital, but it was not immediately known whether the driver was among the dead or the injured.
There was no immediate statement from the bus operator. The police are investigating the tragedy. (Mindanao Examiner)
