ILIGAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 17, 2013) – After the 6th Congress of the Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party List in Santo Rosario Barangay Hall in Iligan City on May 28, 2012, the different participating members representing the various marginalized sectors of Mindanao resolved to proceed with the different cluster assemblies and community consultations in preparation for the upcoming May 13, 2013 midterm elections.
During the cluster assemblies and community consultations, the participating delegates of Anak Mindanao discussed the various political and electoral developments both from the local and the national level. Further, it has been resolved from these gatherings the firm stand of AMIN against the prevalent Political Dynasty catered, supplemented and even heightened by the “tuwid na daan” propaganda.
The entire membership of Anak Mindanao would like to stress that the electoral process should bring up the agenda of the marginalized and that the Party List System which in essence was made for the marginalized sectors’ genuine representation must be reviewed and overhauled since it has become a venue for the traditional politicians to extend their political desires, thus tainting the very essence of the party list system.
Moreover, the different consultations provided venue for Anak Mindanao to review its platforms and develop it further to represent the interests of the marginalized majority.
It is apparent among cluster members of Anak Mindanao, starting from the founding congress members up to the 6th congress, the existing internal dynamics and problems the party has. In order to sustain the needs of the campaign of Anak Mindanao, some of the members of the clusters suggested a “piso for the win” mechanism, urging the different grassroots members to help Anak Mindanao – a clear act of ownership of the grassroots towards the party list, and what a party list for the marginalized should exhibit.
The different cluster assemblies and consultations culminated to the National Council Meeting last April 15 at the Home for the Aged Function Hall in Canaway, Iligan City.
The different National Council Members including the Party nominees shared updates from the ground pertaining the ongoing and continuous campaign of the members.
From the meeting, the general call for campaign to win was stressed again amidst challenges and against all odds used by political opportunists to derail the objective of Anak Mindanao and the Party List System election to bring the voices of the marginalized to the congress.
