CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama said they will soon launch a new program dubbed “TRIBUTE,” which will feature great achievements and legacies of a distinct Cebuano personality who is still alive.
He said this will be held annually – every Charter Day celebration. “We want the good memories of person to be cherish and be heard while they are still living” Rama said.
Rama thought of this after delivering speech during the neurological service of the late Cebuano broadcaster Erap Tony Avila recently.
He described Avila as an icon in broadcasting and shared a lot of good memories with him being a good friend, but also he lamented that Avila cannot hear all his exhortations anymore.
Rama plan to launch the program during this year’s Charter Day celebration. He said the same program will also be duplicated in the barangay level for their unsung heroes that may deserve a tribute. (Cebu Examiner)
