MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 19, 2012) – Chinese Vice Foreign Minister and Special Envoy of the Chinese Government Fu Ying called on President Benigno Aquino III in Manila, bringing a message from Chinese President Hu Jintao that Beijing places great importance and value to the long-standing friendship with the Philippines.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said Fu also expressed Beijing’s desire to move Philippines-China relations forward to benefit the peoples of both countries.

Aquino, for his part, said the Philippines also aspires for a peaceful and stable region. He said the Philippines has been fostering a conducive atmosphere so that both sides can come to a mutually beneficial solution to issues of mutual concern.

Fu is in Manila to lead the Chinese delegation to the 18th Philippines-China Foreign Ministry Consultations and that both sides have agreed to work on implementing the consensus reached by Aquino and Hu last year which is to achieve a bilateral trade of US$ 60 billion dollars and a 2 million two-way tourism arrivals by 2016.
