COTABATO CITY – A single storey multi-purpose training center intended for the Bangsamoro youth is underway following the Bangsamoro Government’s groundbreaking rite on April 10 at Poblacion 9, Biniruan in this city.

The leading project implementers include the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) and the Office of Member of Parliament (MP) Suharto Esmael. Funded under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) 2024, the center will be an avenue for human development initiatives and other activities.

Esmael Ebrahim, MHSD’s Bangsamoro Director-General, emphasized the significance of advancing the overall well-being of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) younger generations through the aid of the center.

“This training center is dedicated to our Bangsamoro youth, as when the time comes, they will lead the autonomous region and support our aspirations. They will be properly equipped and prepared for future roles such as pushing forward the Bangsamoro Government’s advocacies and goals,” he stated during the ceremony in Poblacion 9, Biniruan, in this city.

Likewise, MP Esmael expressed optimism regarding the benefit of the building to the Bangsamoro people.

“Hopefully, this establishment will become an instrument in further extending help to our Bangsamoro youth, and of course, the Bangsamoro in general,” the regional legislator shared.

Chairperson Hamodi Tiboron of the United Voices for Peace Network (UVPN) Inc.—the entity that will oversee the center once turned over—pledged that their organization commits to taking care of the interim government’s ‘trust’ and honing the skills and capabilities of the Bangsamoro youth.

The MHSD and the Office of MP Esmael are also expected to subsequently discuss other interventions for the Bangsamoro communities outside the territorial jurisdiction of the BARMM.

Under Section 12, Article VI of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), the Bangsamoro Government, in coordination with local government units where other Bangsamoro communities are located and the appropriate national government agencies, is mandated to assist in enhancing their economic, social, and cultural development.

Developing a system of reliable and resilient infrastructure continues to be the fifth priority agenda of the Government of the Day. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
