Cop shoots man who hacked 2 people in Zamboanga town

ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 22, 2013) – A man was shot and killed after he tried to attack policeman who was trying to arrest him after hacking a neighbor in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga Sibugay, officials said.

Officials said Alexander Ridad, 47, first attacked Edilyn Lipange over a debt and then hacked Anita Jumuad, 50, who tried to pacify him at a karaoke house in the village of Makilas in Ipil town.

Lipange managed to escape and sough police help over the attack.

PO1 Crizmison Adventurado, who rushed to the area, tried to stop Ridad, but the man, armed with a bolo, tried to attack the officer, but was shot. (Mindanao Examiner)
