ILIGAN CITY – Motorcycle gunmen ambushed a police car killing an officer and wounding a civilian in Marawi City in the southern Philippine province of Lanao del Sur, reports said Thursday.
It said the attack occurred late Wednesday in the village of Marinut and killed SPO1 Jonaire Bantuas and wounded his partner SPO1 Johair Polayagan and Nader Tahir who was hit by a stray bullet.
No individual claimed responsibility for the attack and police were investigating the motive of the assault. It was not immediately known whether the two officers were on a mission at the time of the attack. (Mindanao Examiner)
