ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 10, 2012) – Police have mounted a search for 3 motorcycle gunmen who killed a Chinese trader during a foiled robbery in the southern Filipino port city of Zamboanga, officials said Tuesday.
Officials said 50-year old Miao Rong Shi was walking home with her daughter when she was attacked Monday night at a dark alley near her home in downtown Zamboanga.
“It was a robbery attempt. The gunmen shot her after she resisted,” said Chief Superintendent Mario Yanga, of the local police force.
Yanga said they are investigating the killing of the woman, whose family runs a cell phone shop in Zamboanga.
“There are two CCTVs in the area and we hope to identify those behind the killing,” he said, referring to surveillance cameras from shops near the crime scene. (Mindanao Examiner)
