PAGADIAN CITY – Police rescued 6 people, mostly teenagers, who were recruited to work in a karaoke house in Zamboanga del Sur province in southern Philippines, officials said Tuesday.
Officials said the teenagers, who are residents of Pagadian City, were recovered at the bar owned by Gloria Pacatang and Sita Mandano in the town of Pitogo.
The parents of one of the teenagers sought the help of the police after learning their daughter, along with the others, were lured to work in Pitogo town without their consent.
The rescued victims were handed to municipal social workers for counseling before being reunited with their families. Police are investigating the recruiter of the teenagers. (Mindanao Examiner)
