DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb.  9, 2013) – Local Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio has endorsed the candidacy of senatorial candidate and San Juan Representative JV Ejercito Estrada who was recently in Davao City for the Philippine Councilors League.

Duterte-Carpio made the endorsement before some 3,000 legislators who attended the event at the SMX Convention Center.

“His track records in San Juan speak of how he works. So I would like to personally endorse his candidacy to you, bahala ma-electioneering ako hindi naman ako tatakbo,” Duterte-Carpio was quoted as saying by Sun-Star Davao during her welcome remarks.

Ejercito Estrada, who was the event’s keynote speaker, is widely popular not only in Davao City, but in Mindanao where his father, and actor and former President Joseph Estrada, now running for mayor in Manila, is famous among the masses.

“We learned a lot from San Juan. Marami kaming kinuha na ginawa nila, magagandang ginawa nila. Sinubukan namin at sinusubukan namin para sa aming lungsod ng Dabaw,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Separate surveys conducted recently by the Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia Inc. have constantly shown Ejercito Estrada in the top 5 among the 33 senatorial preferences of Filipinos for the May polls.

Ejercito Estrada expressed gratitude to the public after the latest Pulse Asia survey revealed that voters continue to strongly support his senatorial bid.

Pulse Asia recently released its January 2013 Pre-Election Survey fielded from January 19-30 where Ejercito Estrada placed 5th among the 33 senatorial candidates and was favored by 43.5% of survey respondents.

Just last month, the Pre-Election Survey on voters’ Senatorial preferences conducted by Social Weather Stations also showed Ejercito Estrada placing 4th and was favored by 53% of respondents.

“The January pre-election surveys affirm the public’s continuous support for my candidacy. For that, I am very grateful,” Ejercito Estrada said.

The United Nationalist Alliance candidate said he looks forward to the start of the campaign period to personally thank Filipinos who have been supportive of his senatorial bid. (Mindanao Examiner)
