DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sarah Carpio has ordered the re-opening of night market in Davao City following appeals by hundreds of vendors affected by the closure early this month.
Carpio closed the night market along Roxas Avenue after vendors violated many rules and regulations and complaints from legitimate traders and motorists who were affected by the heavy traffic in the area. More than 700 vendors were affected by the closure of the night market.
“Trial stage pa,” Carpio said stressing now that the vendors should strictly follow the rules and other regulations set by the local government at the night market.
The operation of the night market is closely being monitored by the City Traffic Transportation and Management Office and the Health Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the Human Resource Management Office. The local government will also put portable toilets in the area. (Mindanao Examiner)
