DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 15, 2011) – More than 1,000 villagers in the southern Filipino province of Davao del Norte benefited from the humanitarian mission conducted Thursday by the police and military through the efforts of local government officials headed by Governor Rodolfo del Rosario.
The mercy mission was held in the village of Mamangan in San Isidro town. “This convergence of efforts among partners in the gift giving and delivery of social and health services has one goal and that is to concretize the message that all our efforts are geared for peace and development of the people whom we serve,” said Army Col. Lysander Suerte, commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade.
Provincial health officer Dr. Agapito Hornido spearheaded the medical mission in the village where they also handed out free medicines to residents.
The convergence of efforts was an offshoot of the “meeting of the minds” during a Provincial Peace and Order Council meetings this year. Del Rosario said that combined efforts among partners shall be implemented in the communities, hence the birth of the so-called “Convergence for Initiatives on Peace and Development.”
