MATI CITY – Some 120 mahogany saplings were planted in Mati City in Davao Oriental province in southern Philippines as part of the greening program of the Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative.
The activity was spearheaded by employees of the electric cooperative in the village of Dahican. The seedlings, from the Nursery of the Million Trees Movement, were provided by the Provincial Government.
Engineer Gregorio Dukil, chief executive officer of the cooperative, said the tree planting coincided with the celebration the National Electrification Awareness Month and as support to the Million Trees Movement of Davao Oriental.
Aldrin Espinosa, in-charge of the nursery, urged citizens and civic groups to plant trees. He said different species of trees are available for free at the nursery and ready for planting.
