DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 14, 2014) – Traffic enforcers fined a former mayor in Davao City in southern Philippines after being flagged down for over speeding.

Lawyer Sara Carpio was driving at least 60 kilometers per hour, way above the 40 set by her father, lawyer Rodrigo Duterte, the current mayor of Davao City.

Carpio paid a fine of P1,000 and got back her license which was seized by a traffic enforcer. The former politician said she was not aware that the speed limit is 40 kilometers per hour.

Duterte signed the Executive Order 39 last year that sets the speed limits in Davao to prevent accidents due from reckless driving and over speeding.

Davao, under Duterte’s political rule, is one of the safest cities in the Philippines. (Mindanao Examiner)
