Davao ‘night market’ ipasasara!

DAVAO CITY – Ipinatitigil na ni Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio ang night market dito matapos umanong makitaang ng maraming paglabag sa ordinansa ng Davao City ang mga daan-daan vendors.

Tinatayang mahigit sa 700 vendors ang apektado ng kautusan ni Carpio na sisimulan ngayon araw ng Huwebes sa kahabaan ng Roxas Avenue, ngunit ayon sa mga vendors ay nagsimula na umano ito ngayon Miyerkoles. Ito ay base na rin sa rekomendasyon ng City Traffic and Transport Management Office sa ilalim ng hepe nitong si Rhodelio Poliquit.

Isa sa malaking dahilan ng pagpatigil ng “tiange” ay ang hindi pagsunod sa patakarang “one family-one stall rule” na ipinatutupad ng pamahalaang lokal matapos na malaman ni Carpio na karamihan sa mga puwesto o stalls ngayon ay pinatatakbo sa mga “dummy” ng mga financiers at ang iba naman ay pinarerentahan pa sa ibang vendors.

Marami rin umanong nalabag na batas-trapiko ang mga vendors na siyang sanhi ng buhol-buhol na trapiko doon kung kaya’t minabuti na lamang ni Carpio na ipatigil ang night market. Hindi na bale umano na mawalan ng kita o buwis ang pamahalaan kaysa naman nagpapatuloy ang magulong sitwasyon sa lugar.

Nirereklamo rin ng ibang mga lehitimong negosyante ang night market – na nagsisimula ng alas 6 ng gabi hanggang alas 2 ng madaling araw – sa maraming kadahilanan. Nais umano ni Carpio na panatiliin ang kalinisan at maluwag na daloy ng trapiko doon. (Malou Cablinda)
