Deadly suicide attack rocks Afghanistan’s capital – Al Jazeera

Editor February 1, 2016

At least 10 people were killed and 20 wounded when a Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up trying to enter a police building in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, police and the interior ministry said.

Deputy interior minister, Ayub Salangi, confirmed the death toll on Twitter.

Several bodies were strewn around the area after the attack, which was quickly claimed by the Taliban, a photographer with the AFP news agency reported from the scene.

Ambulances rushed to the scene of what was described by witnesses as a powerful blast.

Kabul was hit by a series of suicide attacks last month, including one that killed seven journalists from a private television station, as the Taliban stepped up its campaign against the Western-backed government.

The attacks coincided with renewed efforts to revive a peace process with the armed group that stalled last year.(Al Jazeera)
