DENR-ARMM launches official publication ‘Gaddung’

Desk Editor October 5, 2017

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DENR-ARMM) launched its official publication called “Gaddung,” which means “Green” that symbolizes the shade of environment, as well as the identity as Bangsamoro.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief Albashir Saiden said the publication aims at strengthening the department’s campaign for a more eco-friendly community. It also seeks to inform the public, especially those at the grassroots, about the department’s social transformation, climate change mitigation programs, as well as other accomplishments and initiatives.

DENR-ARMM Secretary Hadji Kahal Kedtag said: “Napaka-importante nitong publication, dahil ang mga accomplishment reports namin ay chief of offices lang ang nakakakita, but through this publication, everybody will know what’s going on at the DENR-ARMM.”

The first issue, with more than 200 copies, will be distributed to ARMM’s different line agencies. Saiden said it will also be distributed to several libraries, schools and even to coffee shops. “Plano rin naming magpadala sa national office para kahit papaano ay makita nila na talagang may ginagawa ang DENR-ARMM,” he added.

For the next issue, the department plans to highlight its accomplishments in the region’s five provinces, which will feature the major activities and achievements of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officers and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers.

“Dadagdagan pa natin ito dahil DENR-ARMM has more stories to tell, marami pa tayong pwedeng ipakita, marami pa tayong pwedeng ilabas,” Sec. Kedtag said. With the publication’s theme, “For a greener and climate-smart ARMM”, the department hopes to bring its people to a unified region that promotes a greener and climate-smart ecosystem.
