ILIGAN CITY – The Optical Media Board (OMB) warned unscrupulous traders from selling pirated movie CDs and DVDs and computer software and games or face criminal charges.
It also urged the public not to buy pirated movies and softwares and instead report them to the OMB and help the government fight piracy.
Just recently, a team of OMB raided many stalls selling pirated CDs and DVDs in Iligan City following mounting complaints from movie producers and intellectual property rights owner on the rampant trading of pirated optical media there.
OMB chairman Anselmo Adriano said they confiscated many pirated music and movies CDs and DVDs here.
He said they also seized duplicating machines and hundreds of blank CDs and DVDs and printers from unscrupulous traders. He said they will file charges against the erring traders for violating the Optical Media Act. (Mindanao Examiner. With a report from Divina Suson)
