
The seminar was held at the Hotel Alindahaw in Pagadian City where journalists based in Zamboanga Peninsula were invited for the one-day seminar on various DOST and PAGASA programs and services.
The DOST is a government organization supporting projects in life sciences and technological advances, while PAGASA is the government agency for weather forecasting, flood control, astronomical observations, and time service.
Among the topics discussed during the seminar were the Republic Act 10535 or the Philippine Standard Time Act, PAGASA-DOST products and services, basic meteorology, flood forecasting and warning system flood events and its mitigation, Philippine climate, global warming; climate variability and change.
Also discussed were PAGASA’s astronomical services and the role of media in disaster risk reduction and management.
