ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police killed an alleged notorious drug pusher following a firefight in Lamitan City in the southern Philippine province of Basilan.
Policemen were trying to serve an arrest warrant on Jabier Pinglias who pulled a gun and shot it out with the cops while attempting to escape late Tuesday.
The suspect was eventually killed in the fighting and police recovered a .45-caliber pistol, an ice pick, and illegal drugs said to be methamphetamine hydro-chloride or shabu, and electronic parts of a cell phone.
The police operation is part of the so-called anti-crime campaign dubbed “Oplan Lambat-Sibat.” (E. Dumaboc)
