DSWD-ARMM strengthens fight vs. irregularities in 4Ps implementation

Desk Editor February 2, 2018

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DSWD-ARMM) said it is strengthening the current drive against irregularities allegedly involving local government units in the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Executive Secretary Laisa Masuhud Alamia, who is also concurrent DSWD-ARMM Secretary, said that a series of activities related to this objective are scheduled this month aimed at taking significant steps in addressing 4Ps-related problems. An ‘LGU Assembly on Social Welfare Protection’ will be conducted in Jolo town in Sulu province on February 6 which will outline ARMM’s seriousness in imposing the program’s rules and regulations in order to prevent anomalous acts during 4Ps payouts.

Secretary Alamia said her office would like to hear from Jolo officials on their mechanisms that will address 4Ps’ problems and issues. The regional government would also ask for LGU officials’ full commitment in upholding clean implementation of the government’s programs and projects.

A ‘watch and awareness program’ will be launched during the event to allow concerned citizens to be active in the fight against corruption. The plan covers the activation of DSWD-ARMM Hotlines to where citizens can call or send issues and concerns. Similar activities will be conducted in other ARMM provinces, said Sec. Alamia.
