Duterte’s son Paolo, files libel charges vs. Trillanes

Chief Editor September 7, 2018

DAVAO CITY – Resigned Davao City Vice Mayor and one of President Rodrigo Duterte’s son, Paolo, has filed libel charges against opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes, a rabid critic of the First Family.

In his complaint filed Thursday in Davao City, the young Duterte, said Trillanes allegedly defamed him and his family accusing him of corruption and extortion involving UBER and other companies regulated by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulation Board, the Road Board and the Department of Public Works and Highways during a radio interview by Leo Lastimosa over dyAB Cebu on September 8 last year.

He said lawyer Manases Carpio, his brother-in-law and husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is also filing a similar case against Trillanes.

There was no immediate statement from Trillanes on all accusations against him by the former vice mayor. But Trillanes, a former coup leader during President Gloria Arroyo’s regime, is facing arrest after Duterte revoked the amnesty that President Benigno Aquino granted him and several other coupists who were part of the so-called Magdalo Group which demanded the resignation of Arroyo on allegations of corruption, among others.

Trillanes has questioned Duterte’s action and his lawyers vowed to exhaust all legal means to stop the order of the President to arrest the senator, who is now holed out at the Senate building with other opposition politicians. (Mindanao Examiner)
