Elderly man killed for his motorcycle

Editor December 17, 2014
PNP-2B2-2Bcopy6

SULTAN KUDARAT – Three men on a motorcycle shot dead an elderly villager and took his motor bike in a broad daylight attack Wednesday in the town of Lambayong in Sultan Kudarat province, police said.

Police said the 65-year old Romualdo Gabaon died instantly after he was shot in the village of Midtapok. One of the assailants then drove off with the dead man’s bike.

Senior Inspector Emerson Policarpio, chief of the local police force, dispatched a team to pursue the attackers along with soldiers from the 33rd Infantry Battalion, but the gunmen managed to escape and left behind Gabaon’s motorcycle on a remote village in the town of General Salipada Pendatun in nearby province of Maguindanao.

Policarpio said they also alerted authorities in Maguindanao, one of five provinces under the Muslim autonomous region, about the killing and the escape of the assailants. (Mindanao Examiner – Rose Muneza)
