
It said most of the food packs were noodles that were distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The agency said it overlooked the distribution of the expired food packs, which were left overs from previous donations to victims of Typhoon “Yolanda”.
It said the food packs were not thoroughly inspected and had been handed out by mistake. It said only two packs of noodles were expired.
The same problems were also encountered in the past by typhoon victims and war refugees in Mindanao where expired food products and canned goods had been distributed to them. (Cebu Examiner)
