DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 19, 2013) – Unidentified gunmen shot a farming couple in the town of Salug in Zamboanga del Norte province in southern Philippines, police said Thursday.
Police said the victims – Ronald Abejero, 44, and his wife Carmelita, 35, – were repeatedly shot in their house in the village called Balakan and killing the man.
The couple was preparing their dinner when somebody and called Abejero’s name. Police Abejero opened the door and was immediately shot by the gunmen, who also attacked his wife.
The shooters fled after the attack, police said.
Investigators recovered 5 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol outside the house. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack. (Mindanao Examiner)
