Father shot in face by sons’ foes in Zamboanga

Desk Editor January 27, 2018

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A father was shot in the face by a group of men, one of them a policeman, after they failed to find the victim’s two sons whom they had an altercation in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines. But one of the assailants also killed his companion after he accidently shot him during the attack early Thursday, police said.

Police said 9 people were involved in the attack, but one of them managed to escape and is being hunted now by authorities. It said Bernard Ybanez was shot in the face by the men, accompanied by PO1 Alden Sahiron, who came looking for the Ybanez brothers who were not at home at the time of the attack.

The father only came out of the house to see who were looking for his sons when he was attacked.

One of the suspects, Lindy Abbuh, was fatally shot by his companion and police were also investigating the killing which occurred at Unity Drive in Tetuan village where the Ybanez family resides. Police did not say who shot Ybanez and Abbuh or whether one man or several were involved in the shooting.

Sahiron was also disarmed and detained along with his companions, including his girlfriend. Neither the policeman nor any of his companions has given a statement about the violence. (Mindanao Examiner)
