MANILA HAS urged authorities in Kuwait to immediately arrest a 22-year old Kuwaiti policeman who kidnapped and raped a Filipina maid in the Arab country.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) identified the suspect as Fayed Naser Hamad Alajmy and said Kuwaiti authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest.
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Fernandez said the Philippine embassy in Kuwait continues to monitor the case with local authorities in the Gulf state. “The Philippine government, through the Philippine embassy in Kuwait, is closely coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities for the speedy arrest of the suspect. The Philippine government will exert all efforts to ensure that justice is served,” he said.
The identity of the woman was not made public, but Fernandez said the policeman was the one who assisted the finger scanning registration of the Filipina at the airport upon her arrival on June 4.
“It was alleged that Alajmy later kidnapped and assaulted the OFW,” Fernandez said, quoting a report by Charge d’ affaires Mohammed Noordin Lomondot. He said the victim’s employer continues to cooperate with the Philippine embassy and local authorities.(Joyce Ann Rocamora)
