Electronics engineering students of Notre Dame of Kidapawan College test their new innovation – an electronic helmet and electronic start motorcycle which detect whether the rider is wearing a crash helmet or not and whether the driver is drunk. If the engine is turned on and the rider did not wear the helmet the motorcycle and helmet produce a beep which reminds the driver to put on his helmet. Once worn, the helmet, which is fitted with a unique device, is able to detect if the motorcycle driver is drunk or not and if the driver is under the influence of alcoholic beverages, the engine automatically will not start and keeps on beeping. The device also serves as anti-motorcycle theft. (Photo by Geonarri Solmerano)
