ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 19, 2014) – A bungalow burned on Thursday in after its owner left a rechargeable fan plugged in an electrical outlet in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, official said.
Officials said there were no casualties in the fire that gutted the house of the Dela Cruz family in the village of Putik, but the blaze spread to the garage where a Pajero sport utility vehicle was parked.
A caretaker of the house said it took fire fighters over 30 minutes to respond to the fire call and the first to arrive came from the central headquarters in downtown Zamboanga, although there were fire engines in nearby villages.
“We don’t know why it them so long to come. The fire has already consumed much of the house, including the Pajero and it’s good that the vehicle did not explode,” the caretaker told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
The extent of the damage was not immediately known. (Mindanao Examiner)
