BASILAN PROVINCE (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 19, 201) – A huge fire has left dozens of villagers homeless in Isabela City in the southern Philippine province of Basilan, authorities said Monday.

It said at least 3 dozen houses had been burned from the conflagration in the village called Kaumpurnah where 90 were displaced.

The local mayor Cherry Akbar and her sister, Maria Jennesa Tubongbanua, a council woman, have distributed groceries to the families affected by the fire.

The Bureau of Fire and Protection said it is still investigating the incident. There were no reports of casualties. (With a report from Richard Falcatan)
