ZAMBOANGA CITY – A fire broke out at a neighborhood in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, but authorities said there were no reports of casualties.
The fire on Thursday destroyed several houses at Purok-II in the village called Santo Nino. Many of those who lost their house in the blaze said they failed to save any of their belongings.
“Not a thing, we did not save a single thing. The fire just quickly spread and we save ourselves,” Nardo Mapula told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
Fire fighters were able to control the blaze before it could spread to other houses nearby. The Bureau of Fire Protection said it is investigating the cause of the blaze. (Christina Diabordo)
