ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 16, 2014) – A fish broker was shot and killed in an attack in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, police said.

Police identified the victim as Hussin Naama, a resident of Lower Calarian village. Naama, who just came out from an eatery, was killed in the seaside village of Baliwasan where the gunman had been waiting for him.

The attacker fled on a motorcycle driven by another man after the shooting. Police said Naama was shot several times and died instantly from the attack. Troops nearby responded to the shooting, but did not catch up with the assailants.

Police said it is investigating the killing. Killings are a common occurrence in Zamboanga where guns-for-hire are actively operating. (Mindanao Examiner
