ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 13, 2013) – A Filipino fish broker was seized by gunmen, one of them an employee, in the town of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay province in southern Philippines, police said Friday.
Police forces have been deployed to rescue to Cynthia Caboverde, 48, and arrested one of the abductors Adznar Chiong, 25, in a follow operation after he was identified by the woman’s driver and her cousin Ricky Baid Albon.
The woman, a resident of Dipolog City, just came from her fishing boat with partner Edrin Agca in Magdaup village where she distributed salaries of crew members. On their way home, one of the fishermen hitched a ride, but later pulled out a gun and commandeered the woman’s truck back to shore where 6 gunmen joined him.
The gunmen also seized the couple’s bag containing P800,000 and then dragged the woman to a waiting motorized boat. Caboverde’s partner and Albon were both left behind by the abductors for a still unknown reason. (Mindanao Examiner)
