
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 17, 2014) – Flash floods on Thursday have affected hundreds of villagers in the southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga, officials said.
Officials said police and villagers rescued those who were trapped in the village of Sangali and Mayor Maria Isabelle Salazar rushed to the area to supervise the evacuation of residents.
Salazar also distributed sleeping mats and other necessities to the villagers affected by the flash floods. There were no reports of casualties or injuries, but Salazar ordered policemen and soldiers to secure the safety of the villagers.
She also ordered social workers to attend to the needs of the locals.
